::01.28.06:: We have updated our Photos Page to include pictures of us live at Club 115. Check it out! The band will be playing there regularly as the opening act for Haydn Vitera and his band. Haydn and the band are excellent musicians and really good guys. We hope that you come out and see both shows at this new venue where the atmosphere is nice and the people are friendly ...and the music is excellent! (Look for more dates to come soon.)
::01.10.06:: Boca Abajo wishs all our fans a happy and prosperous new year! We are thankful for all the support you have showed us through the years. We hope that 2006 will prove to be a good year for the band as well. We have started the year scheduled to do shows at Club 115 in Austin on it's Rock en Espanol night on Thursdays. The recording process of our CD is done and now it just needs to be "mixed and mastered" as they say. Details coming soon on the CD release party...
::12.20.05:: We were back in the studio for the last two months in 2005 finishing recording the much anticipated (and much talked about) first full-length CD. Mainly brought on by the departure of our guitar player Eli, who managed to lay down his guitar tracks before moving to Florida. The CD which had been shelved for a while due to financial reasons is now slated for a March 2006 release date.
::11.01.05:: Boca Abajo's original lead guitar player Eli Mendoza has left the band. Eli had been with the group since it was first formed in 1999. The rest of the band wish him the best of luck as he pursues his long time dream of becoming a recording engineer. Alex Veliz, a long time friend of the band, has stepped in his place. Although we know it will be hard to fill Eli's shoes, we know Alex will do a good job and bring a fresh dynamic to the band.
::03.26.04:: Bocaabajo made its first time appearance at the SXSW Music Conference in Austin, TX. It was the first year that SXSW had three Latin music showcases. Bocaabajo represented the hometown crowd at the show held on Saturday, March 19. They shared the stage with other acts such as Control Machete, Akwid and Liquits. Loyal fans came out in support and the band gained huge exposure that they hope will spotlight the growing Latin Rock movement in Austin. [Visit SXSW's Bocaabajo webpage]
::10.20.03:: The first TODO POR MANÁ CONCERT generated a huge buzz for Bocaabajo and lands us a show at the side stage at the MANÁ concert in Houston for Sat., Oct. 25! Band will also play at the pre-concert and after-parties.
:: 08.20.03 :: And the winner of Houston's Battle of the Bands is...not, Bocaabajo. A band out of Dallas named Zona 7 took home the trophy. Oh well, although we didn't win we had a great time...and hopefully won over some new fans. It is good to know Houston has a huge Rock en Espanol scene and an incredible vibe. The headliners of Friday night's show, El Gran Silencio, kicked ass also! The band is currently working on scheduling more shows in Houston.
:: 10.29.02 :: Bocaabajo is back "in a big way" after a long absence... The band opened for Latin Grammy Award winning vocal group Sin Bandera on October 23 in San Antonio. The show put on by radio station AMOR 95.1 FM generated a huge response and was filmed for television by an Austin, TX cable access show to air in November. Stay tuned for more details.
The San Antonio show marked the debut of Bocaabajo's new drummer, Roland Ramirez, as well as new material from the band. The guys will be working on a full-length CD by the end of November to include these new songs as well as material from their original demo CD.
:: 06.01.02 :: Bocaabajo's first music video for the song "El Fin" premiered on ACAC, Austin Cable Access Channel, (Channel 16). Austin, Texas-based independent film-maker, Ramon Lopez, directed the video. Be sure to tune in to all your favorite Latino music television shows and request the video.
Bocaabajo's music can be heard on the radio show "Sin Fronteras" with DJ Jesús Chaírez /KNON 89.3 FM, Dallas, TX. The radio show is live on Sunday nights, 10 pm - midnight. You can tune in via the net at http://www.knon.org.
:: 05.18.02 :: Bocaabajo's music will be featured in a soon-to-be released independent film entitled "Entre Dos Tierras". The short-film was written and directed by Ramon Lopez, who directed the band's first music video. The film also contains music by Patrick (is he going solo?) Salinas.
